Virtual Tour

Visita Virtual

You will be guided through the various sectors of our Headquarters in Portugal.

From here we will commence our tour of the various stages of mould manufacturing in its proper order. Beginning with the quotation on through the different manufacturing stages until shipping. You will be able to see the various tasks that are entailed here at GECO, in order to supply you with a high quality tool.

We hope you will enjoy.

Quotation

As mentioned in services, our projects always begin with a well-prepared quotation. Thanks to our vast experience in the field of mould making, we can provide a mould quotation that bestows all the necessary information.

Our quotes are provided with every detail. Mentioning the types of steel we suggest, injection and ejection systems, and surface finishes, along with other requested and important information.

This way the order may be placed immediately.

Preliminary Drawings

Immediately after a mould order is given, a preliminary mould drawing is executed. So our customers may verify, approve or comment on.

Our preliminary mould drawings contain all the main features the mould should have, such as; mould size, injection and ejection system, cooling circuits and moving mechanisms.
In this manner, GECO holds open discussions along with its customers so both may have an immediate view of the engineering concept.
After specifications have been checked and approved, we may immediately order steel and begin detailed drawings.
Please see our CAD / CAM systems, on which all our drawings are generated.

Staying On Top of Things

One of our most critical services is our commitment to schedule.

Correct planning of the diverse phases of mould manufacture allows us to meet delivery dates with the utmost care and quality.

Technical communication is established directly between our customers and one of our Project Leaders, thereby allowing direct exchange of information.
Direct contact could always be kept with one of your Friendly Project Leaders by Fax, E-mail, ISDN, Video Conference or
Conference calls. We are always within the reach of our customers at all times.

The flexibility of our management skills allows us to quickly ascertain at any moment the exact stage of production, thus minimizing errors without incurring time loss.

Detailed Drawings & Engineering

Within the bounds of CAD / CAM, are 83 workstations for design and programming at our disposal.

The fact that the projects in which we are involved are becoming increasingly diverse and demanding, together with ever-shorter deadlines, ensures that GECO keeps itself up-to-date both in terms of technical innovation and integration of all CAD / CAM systems.

Milling

High precision machines are necessary to guarantee the quality and speed of our manufacturing. We are aware that the quality of the mold determines the quality of our customer product.

Electrode Machining

Highspeed machines with multi tool change facilities, coupled with magazine mounting for electrodes, ensure 24 hour production. With dedicated engineers and designers to support this activity.

Spark & Wire Erosion

To accommodate ever more complex tool configurations a dedicated spark and wire erosion department has been established to support the GECO Group.

Fitting & Final Assembly

The vast experience of our employees, working in teams, hand-in-hand with modern equipment.
Gives us the ability to produce moulds for a wide range of products. GECO manufactures moulds from 100kgs to 40 tons.

Mould Try-Outs

All mould trials are carried out and supervised by GECO. Using the exact materials and the appropriate injection machines from 65 tons up to 1750 tons. Along with Gas Injection and 2 component capabilities. We can simulate the customer’s plant environment in order to ensure that the manufactured tool is in perfect condition for mass production.

Quality Control

In order to guarantee the quality of our work, the dimensional control of the mould is achieved systematically throughout its production at key stages. All samples are dimensionally checked on our CMM’s.

A full dimensional report is generated and analyzed by also checking the steel. The customer is informed of any deviations and the necessary corrective actions.

So as to speed-up approval with an immediate inspection, GECO has the latest equipment for coordinate measuring:

  • 3D Measurement Processing
  • 2D Measuring
  • Profile Projector
  • Laser Digitalization

Final Inspection & Sign-off

At GECO we have an area specialized and dedicated just for the inspection and preparation of moulds for shipping.
When mould manufacturing is concluded and samples are to our customer’s satisfaction, surely the next step is to ship the tool.
So in order to guarantee that everything is to specifications, we have a team inspect all the cooling circuits with a high-pressure water system at 10 bars. This way we check the circuits for leakage before shipping. Hydraulics are also inspected, when applied.
Besides all the necessary preparations, a TOOL MANUAL is prepared afterwards containing the following:
  • Tool I.D.
  • Shipping Verification
  • Tool Pictures (Upon shipping)
  • 2D Tool drawings (CD-rom)
  • Shipping Check-list
  • Last Trial Report
  • Approved Dimensional Report
  • Steel Certifications
  • Steel Treatment Specifications Test Report
  • Tool Drawings (Paper)
  • Cooling Circuits Diagram
  • Hot-Runner information (when applied)
  • Tool Maintenance Plan
